ABOUT US
Metal Health Gym started in 1986 as a part-time venture
by Nick Ugolik. Nick's motivation was to simply have
a place to train that was close to where he worked.
The first incarnation was on Beaumont Road in Wallingford,
CT. It was a 6,000 square foot gym with tons of weights
and equipment. However, it didn't take long to outgrow
that facility and after 2 years, the gym moved to a
10,000 square foot facility in Yale Plaza in Wallingford
and adopted the World Gym license.
After 5 years in the Yale Plaza location, the gym was
still growing and requiring more space. As a result,
the gym re-located to a much larger 18,000 square foot
facility in Park Plaza on the Meriden-Wallingford townline.
In addition to more equipment, this move introduced
some additional services including babysitting, aerobics
and a full juice bar.
3 and half years and many reasons later, the gym re-located
to its current Silversmith Park facility continuing
the World Gym affiliation. The gym has been in this
location for over 6 years and having become disillusioned
with the trend in "fitness," the decision
was made to again make a change. However, this change
was not a location change but rather a name and philosophy
change back to the original Metal Health Gym
